Meet the Team

  • Moe Ali - Youth Worker

    Moe brings 15 years of experience in the not for profit sector focusing on youth development to us at TCYS. Originally from London Moe and is also employed at the Family Centre and Caspa, working in various capacities from in school facilitation to out of home care. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by today's youth, Moe implements innovative strategies and evidence-based practices to foster personal growth, resilience, and social engagement. Fun fact about Moe - he is also a fully qualified Yoga teacher!

  • Hamish Bunney - Chairperson

    Hamish grew up on the Tweed Coast and regularly accessed Tweed Coast Youth Service as a participant and spent subsequent years volunteering for the organisation in a number of capacities. He has served as the Chairperson of Tweed Coast Youth Service since late 2022. He aims to build the organisations capacity to deliver purposeful, need driven programs that empower youth and help them build lasting connections with their local community. He is a local high school teacher and has a deep belief in the power of community.

  • Leanne Webber - Vice-Chairperson

    Before moving to the area Leanne researched the volunteering opportunities and was impressed by the work that the then Cabarita Youth Service was achieving for youth. A psychologist in her previous role, Leanne started her journey as a volunteer, driving for the school holiday program then joined the board as a community member. She also became involved with Girls Space and is now the co-ordinator for this program. TCYS was the only one assisting youth in the Tweed region and has always been run by a very small group of volunteers.

  • Lisa Richards - Secretary

    Lisa is a Mum of two who works in government and runs a local bin cleaning business too. Lisa moved to the Tweed Coast seven years ago, attracted to the natural beauty and lifestyle of the area and the strong sense of community.

    She is passionate about supporting local youth so they feel safe and confident to explore various opportunities and pathways in life.

    Fun fact out about Lisa - she speaks three languages!

  • Tom Porter - Committee Member

    Tom works as a music teacher at Yodelay Music in Bogangar teaching guitar, drums and bass, while also completing his final year of a Bachelor of Education (Primary) at Griffith University. Tom is at the organization because he is passionate about providing purposeful programs and he believes that he can play a small part in their success and contribute to their growth and development. A fun fact about Tom is that he used to attend the TCYS skate days throughout his childhood, and now he runs them!

  • Gloria Gal - Committee Member

    Gloria is a born and bred local and has attended various girls space programs herself as a young girl and teenager and loves being involved with girls space as she is given the opportunity to empower young girls and women which she highly appreciates.

    Attending girls space when she was younger played a huge role in choosing to do a bachelor of social welfare at university. A fun fact about Gloria is that she is a twin!
